Parental Involvement

At Alpina Schools & Colleges, we recognise parents as essential partners in a child’s educational journey. Meaningful collaboration between home and school strengthens learning outcomes, nurtures character, and ensures each child’s holistic development. We therefore place great emphasis on open communication, mutual trust, and shared responsibility.

Our doors are always open to parents seeking information, guidance, or discussion. Individual appointments with Branch Heads, Principals, or faculty members may be scheduled at any time. In addition, regular Open House meetings provide structured opportunities for confidential dialogue between parents and class teachers regarding academic progress, personal development, and strategies for continued growth.

We believe that when parents and educators work together with clarity and purpose, students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Parent’s Role

1. Engage & Contribute

Parents are a valued part of the Alpina community. Your interest, encouragement, and involvement play a vital role in sustaining the school’s culture of excellence and enthusiasm.

We actively welcome parental participation in:

  • Co-curricular and cultural activities

  • Educational visits and field trips

  • Community service initiatives and school events

Many parents bring professional expertise, creative skills, or life experience that can enrich the learning environment. If you feel you can make a meaningful contribution, please inform your child’s Class Teacher or Vice Principal and complete the Parent Volunteer Form available at the School Office.

2. Communicate Effectively

Timely and transparent communication is essential to supporting your child’s wellbeing. Parents are requested to inform the school promptly of any developments that may affect their child, including:

  • Medical, physical, emotional, or behavioural concerns

  • Changes in home circumstances

  • Updated addresses or contact numbers

An emergency contact number must always be on record to enable swift communication when required.

3. Support Learning at Home

Parents play an irreplaceable role in shaping attitudes towards learning. The following principles help reinforce your child’s progress at Alpina:

  • Work in partnership with teachers to support learning and discipline

  • Celebrate your child’s individuality—avoid comparisons and focus on strengths

  • Encourage curiosity, independence, and responsibility

  • Foster open conversation and active listening at home

  • Involve your child in everyday activities and family planning

  • Set achievable, purposeful tasks to build confidence and self-esteem

  • Praise effort and progress; do not expect perfection

4. Encourage a Culture of Learning

  • Demonstrate respect for education—let your child know that school matters

  • Visit the school regularly, particularly on Open House days

  • Read with your child daily, even for 20 minutes—reading is the single most powerful learning activity

  • Encourage writing through everyday tasks such as notes, lists, letters, and instructions

  • Make thoughtful use of books, digital resources, audio-visual tools, and technology to enrich learning

And above all: enjoy your child.
Celebrate their growth, share in their discoveries, and take pride in their journey—because education is most powerful when it is rooted in love, encouragement, and belief.
