Alpina Schools & Colleges is a distinguished institution of learning, founded on the enduring vision, scholarship, and dedication of its Founding Directors, Mrs. Najma Jafri and the late Mr. Nasim Jafri.
The late Mr. Nasim Jafri was a highly respected educationist with more than five decades of service to education, both nationally and internationally. His distinguished career included leadership roles such as Superintendent and Principal of the American International School, along with membership of the United Nations Educational Development Council for Asia and the Middle East, International School Services (New Jersey, USA), and other global educational bodies. Beyond formal education, he devoted considerable personal resources and effort to community development and social welfare initiatives, reflecting his deep belief in education as a catalyst for societal progress.
Mrs. Najma Jafri has been the driving force behind Alpina’s growth and enduring success. Beginning in April 1983 with just three classes and nine students, she transformed Alpina into a leading network of schools and colleges, comprising twelve modern campuses across Bahawalpur, Hasilpur, and Lodhran. A true pioneer in Pakistani education, she was among the earliest to introduce Playgroup education for three-year-olds, develop customised pre-primary learning materials, and formally implement Urdu phonetics and Nazira Quran instruction on a researched, ethical, and pedagogically sound basis.
Her influence extends well beyond Alpina. Mrs. Jafri played a key role in supporting the late Hakeem Saeed in establishing schools for the Hamdard Foundation, contributed to the early educational framework of Army Public Schools, and has served as a Syndicate Member of The Government Sadiq College Women’s University, Bahawalpur. Her leadership reflects a rare blend of academic rigour, innovation, and moral purpose.
Guided by Mr. Jafri’s global professional insight and Mrs. Jafri’s visionary academic leadership, Alpina Schools & Colleges has emerged as one of Pakistan’s most respected centres of learning, particularly in the Bahawalpur region. Over the decades, the institution has also provided mentorship, advisory support, and guidance to numerous schools, colleges, and welfare organisations.
Today, Alpina continues as a family-led institution committed to excellence. Saad Jafri (MBA – IBA Karachi) and Babur Jafri (MA English Language & Literature – University of Malaya; University of the Punjab), along with Mrs. Tania Jafri (MSc – University of Strathclyde, UK) and Mrs. Anam Najeeb (MBA – University of Malaya), serve the schools in key administrative, academic, and strategic advisory roles. They are further supported by Honorary Directors Dr Rabia Ali (PhD – University of Georgia, USA) and Syed Abid Ali (MSc – University of Georgia, USA), bringing diverse international and professional perspectives to institutional governance.
Over the past four decades, Alpina has also developed a highly experienced core leadership team of Principals, Vice Principals, and Senior Educators, whose collective commitment has shaped the institution into one of Pakistan’s most stable, trusted, and high-performing educational networks.
With state-of-the-art facilities, a highly qualified faculty, and an unwavering commitment to academic excellence, character development, and ethical leadership, Alpina Schools & Colleges continues to serve as a beacon of opportunity for students in Bahawalpur and beyond.
The legacy of the late Mr. Nasim Jafri, together with the lifelong dedication of Mrs. Najma Jafri, has left an indelible imprint on Pakistan’s educational landscape -one that will continue to inspire generations of educators and learners to come.
